When your brain goes 'click'.

Captain Ranty bemoans the dire state of modern minds. Brain transplants must surely be coming soon, there are so many that could be advertised as 'unused' or 'one careful owner, only used it to go to the shops on the weekend', or 'never used at speed'.

Fraser has a video about the education system and what it is really for.

Sometimes, two separate items just mesh together in your head.

Somehow we need to get 'tough on education, tough on the causes of education' because otherwise, these people are going to sleepwalk into the Fourth Reich.

I've got a children's encyclopedia from 1907 and one from the twenties. The depth of knowledge which was then sold as entertainment for kids is far beyond anything imaginable for the same purpose today. Is there a reason for this obvious dumbing down? Yes, because there are moves (already mooted in Northern Ireland) to deprive 10,000 unemployed of State benefits unless they work for the State in menial tasks. Welcome to the return of the slave-based economy.

Thank you, Sir Iron of Leg, for the mention.

The rant, such as it was, was inspired by alcohol. The lack of which, shall be our ultimate downfall.

Here's to alcohol, the cause of, and the solution to, all of life's problems. (Homer J. Simpson).

Oh, and I like Richards comment as well.

He knows his shit, does Richard.

I've just finished a quarter bottle of something cheap but good (the real Makenzie) and am halfway through a pint of Belfast ale. Ta for the unsolicited testimonial, Captain. True enough I've learnt a good deal, but the majority's been from you. Handshake across the web and all that. Hope all's well in the dark continent.
