My plums are turning purple.

Click to make my plums look bigger.

About time too. There has been very little sunshine so I have masses of green fruit that won't ripen. Looks like I'll be in the plum trade this year, I can't eat all that without seriously endangering my underwear.

I've been looking forward to asking the neighbour if she'd like to squeeze my plums. Soon...

Take your plums to eastern Europe and make slivovica from them. That would make for a few great smoky-drinky evenings. And you could smoke while you were making it there as well!

Tell me about it. The tumescence of my nuts was giving me a wonderful warm feeling until the squirrels started nibbling away at them.

...at least your plums* didn't suffer horribly from wasp damage. Mine do.

(*greengages to be precise. This time of year the garden has a multitude of wasps staggering round it. Rotting 'gages are like Special Brew to them and they become both highly aggressive and incapable of flying. Kinda funny unless you tend to go barefoot... Two years ago we had hornets as well. Scary)

Mmmmm - I have the same - a large Plum bush, plus Apples, Pears, Gooseberries, Redcurrants, and Blackcurrants - the Rhubarb 'died' ! ...

But, due to SEVERE overgrowth, I've had everything seriously cut back, a few weeks ago (I hired in 2 Polish students) ...

So, no crop this year ! - normally, I let my neighbours harvest most of the crop, and I get free fruit pies for months !!! ...

You might need to loosen your underwear a bit then!
Make wine! I prefer damsons but plums ferment nicely.

Plums come in later up in the frozen north, then? Our oner small patio tub tree was ready last month.

Unfortunately, we forgot to support one of the branches, which snapped under the weight and terminated the plums on it before their time!

The rest were better this year than ever before, though. Very sweet.
