Slavery abolished by Labour.

A Government spokesman demonstrating how to make Government policy appear logical.

Picture hallucinated from the film 'Airplane'.

Pub landlord Nick Hogan was prosecuted, fined more than the average baby-thumper and then sent to jail for far longer than a Labour peer who flattened someone with his car. For what exactly? Because he refused to act as an unpaid enforcement officer for a law he disagreed with. Note that he was not prosecuted for smoking - he was prosecuted for not stopping other people smoking.

Why would any landlord not want to be part of the Righteous Brigade? Well, for one thing, because being one of the Righteous' unpaid and unwilling enforcers is dangerous. You want to stop a drunk smoking? He is not going to think 'Oh, it's those blasted Righteous behind it all'. He is going to turn on you. Sometimes violently.

If you don't act as an unpaid enforcer, the Righteous turn on you. Either way, you're the one who gets crapped on.

But wait, what's this?

Fresh from the unwiped bottom of MiniJust comes another dry clinker of wisdom. The same people who demand that all owners of private premises act as unpaid police and put themselves at risk so the Righteous don't have to, have come up with a new law to stop people forcing other people to do work they don't want to do... no, don't try to make sense of it, it will make your head hurt.

The new offence of holding another person in slavery or servitude, or requiring another person to perform forced or compulsory labour, is set out in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009. Those found guilty face a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.

So, when the police charge you with 'allowing others to smoke', you can now immediately countercharge with 'requiring another person to perform forced labour' because that is exactly what they are doing. Act as an unpaid enforcer or face the wrath of the Righteous. Forcing landlords and other business premises operators to work for free as frontline law enforcers, at personal risk, is a direct violation of this new law.

You might get six months. They'll get 14 years.

So, who wants to let the Dreadful Arnott know? We should draw straws for the pleasure.

(A short one tonight. The clocks have gone forward so I'm an hour later than I thought).

UPDATE: Devil's Kitchen found their get-out clause. It's another law that applies to us but not to them.

Ingram etc - if you know my history you'll know Labour and the Tories won't get handed that from me ;)

It's far too good for them.

However - bookmarked in case I actually get to put up that 'parasites lost' post on May 7th.

If Labour win I'll be busy looking for cheap passage to Norway.

LI have you seen the prices on alcohol and cigarettes in Norway?

Oh aye?

So are we going to see thousands of Dole office staff doing 14 years, when the "Government" brings in the "work for your dole" scheme?

Folow ups.

Thanks for the link, LI, both hither and thither.

Well spotted on the hypocrisy of the new legislation too. They don't really know what they are doing from day to day, do they?

They just began a "work for your dole scheme" in San Francisco, CA. It's called SF Hire and it has government reimburse employers who hire candidates for jobs who would otherwise be unqualified based solely on their credentials but who would be so grateful for obtaining one such job these are the individuals who would later show strong political support for the government who funded their wages by way of this "work for your dole scheme" - and thus vote to keep government in office, people like Pelosi and her sort, the local communist junta-crats.

Residents can pay ever increasing taxes to government which can act as a central clearing house and decide who qualifies to be reimbursed for wages after government reimbursed job hiring becomes the new norm and the money can be trickled down in subsistence living amounts to those who in turn would be politically loyal to the liberal-progressive party controlling the government who made this all possible. And anyone who doesn't like the scheme or hasn't the money to afford the high taxes can be forced out of the city while the city operates like a little feudal kingdom operated during the dark ages of Europe centuries earlier at the point where only the very wealthy or else the very poor reliant on government paid "work for your dole" can remain living, the "work for your dole" class held completely in cheque by the upper-most classes who will remain - third world poverty and dual classism achieved in an utopian vision come to life under liberal-progressive one-world-government communist rule.

Maybe that is what Labour has planned over there, a scheme were eventually the pubs will be turned into state sanctioned health-spas and the staffers can be on some sort of government "work for your dole" scheme as is already happening in parts of the US.

Won't that be a lovely day, when it's up to the state to decide who qualifies or not for wages and decides best how to distribute the tax takings from the upper class who is politically vile and uses the mechanisms of communism to retain their high level of control and authority over everyone not like them, eliminating the middle classes in the process.

The way the law is being written, as if the obligation of a pub keeper is akin to the job description for a civil service worker, a policeman, paid by government out of government held tax funds, makes it seem like it's the subliminal level of thought process going on in whoever's mind comes up with such laws which essentially enslave the former private property owners, as serfs, to the government - unpaid for now, perhaps minimally paid in the future once the privateers have been driven out of business.

In the US it is happening in San Francisco, maybe other cities. But people in the US are so eager to embrace socialized medicine that the potential dangers of a scheme like this will slip by unnoticed until eventually the social engineering experiment being undertaken in San Francisco, will slip out into other cities in time and become predominant, just like the anti-smoking fervor and outdoor and private home smoking bans of San Francisco were ignored, then slipped out into the rest of the country and world, resulting in socialized healthcare as a "need" for which the American people can now take the consequences, shut up and pay their taxes and enjoy the health police and the utopian joys about to befall them and their children.

They complain about the Federal Reserve today, but can do nothing. In 60 years time and three generations of forgetfulness through propaganda, some will complain about the National Health Agency, but will be unable to do anything about it.

Fair point, but The Righteous don't see 'obeying their laws' as forced labour.

Hey Leg-Iron,

Are you serious, about the Norway thing?

Jeg kan hjelper deg, vis du vil.

Hvorfor tenker du at heteren min er English Viking?

P.S. Cheapest flights are from Heathrow, Norwegian.no

PPS. Correction, Gatwick.

PPPS. The price of cigarettes and alcohol has to be viewed in line with the rate of wages.

The average, dead-end, no qualifications required factory job pays about 18 quid an hour.

If you know what you are doing, and are qualified, 40-50 quid an hour is not unusual.

It is an horrendously expensive place to visit; it is a perfectly normal place to live.

English Viking - Norway or Switzerland. It has to be somewhere cold because I'll keep longer.

Spiky hats are more likely to be tolerated in Norway, I think.

I'd rather not move but another five years of the Brown Gorgon and I'd be bound to end up in a camp somewhere, lobotomised and re-educated.

Leg-Iron,

Those were the two that I got it down to, before plumping for Norway. Switzerland is a bit 'French' for my liking. Plus I hate multi-culturalism, the full glories of which Norway is yet to suffer, although it is creeping in.

You can guarantee that your name is on somebody's Government computer, somewhere. Right next to mine.
