The old puns are the best.

Michael Foot has died.

Whatever else you might think of him, he was certainly a leg end.

(I have waited decades for this moment.)

He finally kicked the bucket.

Brilliant. I'd never seen that one.

I preferred him to his successor, that toe-rag Nail Kinnock.

Filthy engineer - Obo already had the 'one foot in the grave' line.

Mac the knife - with puns, the lower the better.

Tomrat - Weak, maybe. I'll be 'pun'ished for it one day.

Stewart - This Foot might have been a left one, but he might also have been the last Labour leader who wasn't in it purely for money and power. It's been downhill since he was given the boot.

Fucking hell, Ionel Rapisca gets four years!

he lived 40 yrs longer than most of the working class said...

Leg iron.
Like the Harperson, Mandy, Milliband etc the Foot didn't need the money. He was also of priviedged background and enjoyed mixing with the lower orders and dabbling with CND etc.

Pugh - if he had left her there until the train came, he'd have a suspended sentence and a ticking off.

Lesson learned. If an antismoker confronts you and you retaliate, never attempt any form of conciliatory action. You are done for anyway, so enjoy the moment.

he lived 40 years - all true of course. Still, this Foot believed in what he stood for (sorry, can't help it) and even though I think he was a deranged hairy idiot for believing it, I have to admit a grudging respect.

He did try for the PM job because he wanted to make a difference to the country, rather than simply for power and money. All those after him were only after power and money. He was the last Labour leader to give a crap about the 'working class'. The latest lot aren't even pretending.

Banned - do you mean me or the Foot?

You can't have both ;)

Random Glenfiddich thought - Isn't Pieman Prescott's blog called 'Left Foot Forward'? He might have to change it to 'Left Foot Under'.

The news has sent the Footsie index tumbling.

*gets coat*

Kinnock's blog would be called 'Left Foot Behind'.

I have an excuse. Glenfiddich reaches the puns other whiskies would never touch.

banned - I think I see the KGB reference now.

He was a Foot in the door for the commies.

I really must stop drinking this stuff.

Foot (shhhh)

If there's a left Foot there must be a right Foot, unless the country has two left feet.. oh.
