Blog burnout.

I think I'm getting blog burnout. It's not that there's nothing to write about - far from it, the lunacy only accelerates day by day - but that I'm finding it difficult to give a crap. There's so much of it I don't even know where to start.

I notice I'm getting lax at answering comments and responding to Emails too. Time for a little break to recharge the rage-glands.

Therefore I will take a few days off from writing this to... er... write something else. I'll try to stay off the news sites but I've said that before and always failed.

In the meantime, if you're in the mood for a bit of escapism, there is a 20% off sale at Lulu for print copies of the short story collections and for those who prefer electrobookery, I have generated one-week money-off coupons for the electronic versions at Smashwords.

Linkies:

Electronic copies, various formats

Fears of the Old and the New, coupon code UC74J ; 40% off

Dark Thoughts and Demons, coupon code  QY23D ; 33% off

Both valid until 14th November 2011.

Print copies:

Fears of the Old and the New

Dark Thoughts and Demons

The code for 20% off is EARLYSHOPPERUK305 This code is generated by Lulu and is valid to 11th November. You probably have to join the sites to use these coupons, but joining is free.

The free stories on Smashwords are still free, naturally. I can't make print copies free. I also can't control pricing on Jessica's Trap because that's out through a publisher.

Okay, I'm off for a few days to see if I can add to that list, assuming I can stay away from the news!

Back later, refreshed and enraged.

Agreed. You sometimes just look out at the world and ask; "Is it just me?"

Nope.

Re the Smashwords thing. When I tried to sign up I was told I had to get a number from the IRS and I'm not even a US resident or citizen. Like you say, Leggy. It's crazy out there.

I know what you mean, mate, I'm feeling exactly the same - as far as I can see, the only thing that will cure the problem is an uprising against the political elite.

You have my sympathy too - sometimes you feel there are only so many ways you can put a different spin on the same old shit.

Agreed, LI. Banging one's head against the same brick wall day in, day out can be depressing. On the plus side, check your stats and you'll see that you're swaying enough souls to be regularly watched by those who are paid to shut you up.

I know I am {waves to ASH}. ;)

I know the feeling well, Leggy!
I hope you are recharged and have a relaxing few days.

Too much lunacy, and we can't do a thing about it, sometimes it's better to go read a book ;-)
Or, in your case, write one!

Oh, boy, do I know that feeling! Take a break, recharge your batteries. The audience (and sadly, the lunacy) will still be here when you return... :)

Enjoy the few days away from it all if you can LI.
I'm finding that even three weeks away from it is seemingly not enough.
I come home launch my bags behind the sofa, fire the old Mini-Mac up; then sit there with my heads in hands, muttering: "It's even madder out there!"

I know the feeling well: I used to write a couple of things a day for the Libertarian Alliance. But the universal and hysterical drive towards madness merely remains the same and you find you said .....just this.....about something a few weeks or months ago.

Take a few days off, mate. You never know: the Enemy-Class might well come up woth some novel twist to its destruction in the meantime...

Well, a long hard look at how crazy the world is gives us at least one answer to the Fermi Paradox. Where are they? They went mad and obliterated themselves.

Enjoy your break, LI. Come back in time for Goetterdaemmerung!

Like many of the above I know exactly what you mean. Put it this way. Sometimes I honestly have nothing to say and sometimes I have too much to say and both can nix me. Anyway I know you'll be back and as full of spit and vinegar as ever.

Okay, you've had a couple of days off now. Don't milk it! I've come to depend on my daily Leg Iron. :-)

Zaphod - you are addicted and must be brought under control.
