Time for a vote?

Should we be in the EU or out of it? If we are in, then minimum pricing for alcohol is illegal so it can't be done. If we are out, it could be done but there'd be no EU funding for the wasters and the Puritans so they couldn't push for it.

I wonder if the EU realise they are funding those who wish to break their laws? If Daphne is watching still, she might like to investigate.

I don't think we should be in. It is a colossal waste of money and does nothing but add new and ever more ridiculous laws to the statute books. The only ones who benefit are the politicians, who get elevated to Kinnochian status after they have proved themselves useless here. Others might disagree.

So let's put it to the vote. Why not, Europhiles? If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear, you know.

Haveyoursay are touring the UK from September looking for petition signatures to attempt to persuade our politicians to listen. Good luck with that. The only thing they'll listen to is a subway train running under Parliament loaded with several tons of explosives and a dead burns victim in a Guy Fawkes mask. Nevertheless, it's worth one last try before we start loading up with bags of fertiliser and percussion caps. They are also looking to collect 10,000 blogosphere supporters.

This initiative has the backing of Nikki Sinclaire, an independent MEP. As I said, it's worth a try.

Go on, Cleggeron. Give us a vote. That would settle the matter once and for all. It would silence dissent forever. So why not put it to the vote?

Surely the Cleggeron Coagulation isn't scared they might lose?

Or, just maybe, they are certain they would.

I've wanted out for many years. A very expensive club that you have absolutely no say in what it does.

No politician will allow a referendum as they damn well know it will be OUT. They seem to be pushing people towards civil unrest day after day.

Incidentally Leg Iron, that woman who put the cat in the bin has been wrongly judged. l have it from good authority that she is interested in 'Schrödinger's cat' .... although her methods are of a concern. :)

L.I,i'm of the mind, the only thing they will listen to is;

"A subway train running under parliament with several tons of explosives"

But if we were lucky enough to get a vote, you know how i would vote, but even then they would rig it.

It doesn't matter how we vote. They'd just give us loads of bribes and ask us to vote again a year later, and to keep voting until we vote to stay in.

Why would a UK referendum be any different from the Irish two?

Co-ordinated riots across all member states might work...

Not a snowball in hells chance of getting a vote!
Excuse me, but if we want to pass a law, who the hell are the EU to tell us we can't. I like the French system - they ignore the EU, do it anyway and when told they need to reverse it afterwards, give a gallic shrug and say "Well, you know. These things take time."
The French are apparently equally slow at implementing EU decisions - unlike us. I gather we are the fastest.
I never thought I'd say it, but we could learn a thing or two from the French - the cheese eating surrendering bastards!

I am not sure where i stand on Europe, but i do worry that England has an image of being a grand power still, but against Europe and America, looks like a tiny soggy fish and chip eating land.

We had a referendum, its called an election!!! 90% of people voted for Europe you stupid bastards including most of you probably. Not one UKIP or BNP MP so stop whinging, we`re in Europe for the long haul thanks to the idiotic British voter.

Anon has a point. I'd have voted UKIP if there had been a candidate here but I think the result would still have been a Lib Dem win with SNP second.

Too many vote 'because that's how we've always voted' and yes, I have heard those very words spoken.

Too many vote for a candidate for no other reason than he/she is the most likely to win, and they want to say they voted for the winner.

Too many refuse to vote for other parties because 'they won't win'. It is difficult to persuade them of the circular logic of their argument - the reason the small parties won't win is because you won't vote for them!

One day they'll see it. I hope it's not too late by then.

Actually, I take a different tack - why would I vote for the incumbent (who is very safe here in my constituency) if I don't like him or his political agenda? I'll get involved with another candidate's campaign mainly out of dislike for the incumbent and also to increase that party's vote and to ensure they keep their deposit.

People who vote for the incumbent because they're the incumbent are losers.
