The wrong half of a greenhouse.

Half of my greenhouse has arrived. The wrong half. If it had been the frame I could have started assembly but no, it's the glazing. So that is now tucked at the back of the shed waiting for the huge Meccano set to arrive.

It doesn't matter too much. It was too windy to do anything about it today and anyway, it'll be the weekend before I can get someone round to help.

What's annoying is that I had to wait in all day for half a greenhouse, and I'll now have to wait in all day tomorrow for the other half.

I hope it comes early. Otherwise it'll be another day wasted.

Ah, but then I can go looking for cut-price greenhouse heaters in the middle of summer when nobody else wants them. Powered by methane, naturally. That's been scientifically proven to be a greenhouse gas, you know.

Given the quality of the whisky you usually keep in your house, L-I, I'll be round to assemble your greenhouse in its entirety whenever required.

And given the quality of whisky I have in my house, additional methane shouldn't be a problem ;-)

Thanks, but I've already arranged with a Smoky-Drinker with greenhouse experience for assistance. no whisky until completion, naturally, I don't want it painted with black Hammerite as one of those 'good ideas' that drink often inspires.

If you're ever in the area, the greenhouse will be included in the designated smoking area that covers every square inch I own and it'll probably have a bottle stored in it in case of emergencies.

I mean, getting to the house means going up a step. That's exercise!

Surely there are a few cows past their sell-by date in Aberdeen LI if you're in need of methane. ;)

Oh, the cows don't need to be past their sell by date. You just have to follow them around with a bucket and shovel ;)

And it's (apparently) 20 times more damaging than CO2. So burning it must be a good idea....

As Microdave says, methane is only a greenhouse gas until you burn it, after which it turns into the nigh ineffective CO2 + H20.

Well, one methane molecule can only produce one CO2 and two H2O, neither of which is as damaging as the original methane.

So. let the flames commence!

I'm glad your chemistry knowledge is better than mine - you use it every day, I last did it at school 35 years ago.

The only problem with 2 molecules of H2O is that water vapour is a far greater cause of atmospheric warming than CO2 (or so the "deniers" tell us).

So it may actually be less harmful to release the methane, rather than burn it...

I have a feeling I'm going to regret this post!
