Hey, antismokers. How is that 'slap a smoker' campaign working out for you?
'Smokers are required to clock-out when they want a cigarette. Surely it is not unreasonable to expect you to clock-out if you wish to have a 10-minute conversation with a colleague about the weather?
From an Email sent to staff at Carlisle City Council.
Well, don't look for sympathy from the smokers. This was your idea.
I can barely type for laughing.

Room to trim some fat there methinks. If people have time to send emails about people having too much time on their hands.
(oh, wait...)
Meanwhile, if the Royal Mail deliver (geddit?), I'll be sat in the warm, vaping away.
I'm looking forward to the shocked faces and hateful sneers when they realise there's nothing they can do about it.
Bwahahahahahahaha! :)
My experience is seeing the anti-smoking hysterics, which is most of them in the office these days, spend more time on the workplace computer web surfing, twittering, emailing, doing personal business, anything but the work they are being paid to do. As long as they got everyone's eyes focused on "the smokers", everyone turn to "look at the smokers" if they leave the front door, then they figured they could distract enough attention away from the fact the anti-smoking hysterics are the least productive hypocrites in the entire office. Worked for a while, now they can start clocking off too, which will be most of the day since they're totally non-productive hypocrites. Brought it on themselves too, what goes around comes around, rightly so.
Expecting council workers to work harder. No wonder morale is down the toilet.
Dick Puddlcote took the words right out of my mouth.
I have a feeling this won't be implemented, not just yet. It's not going away though. Once those mini Hitlers find they can force one group to clock off for a petty reason, they'll keep pressing for more petty reasons.
Snowolf - I see Pat Nurse has picked up an Electrofag too. Best stock up in case they get banned!
We already have to check in and out of our office for a smoky break since the Tartan Taliban outlawed our smoking room.
So as the wheel turns, tough shit.
Folk who don't mind doing a 12 hour shift without leaving the premises (this includes some smokers) have the freedom of the premises, which includes the staff canteen where there are no clocking-in and out readers, subsequently they can spend as much of their "working" hours dossing about skiving anywhere.
Non-smokers dont have to clock off, and they save money, sure. But there are downsides: they don't enjoy the great 'flavour' of tobacco, and they have to spend more time creaking around in old age.
Swings n roundabouts.
