New gadget.

I am informed of the existence of a new gadget.

It works as an add-on to comments and it costs my favourite price - free. So I'm thinking of giving it a go. The only risk involves meddling with settings on the Internet and that often causes me problems.

The add-on site is here and it's run by people with mad hair and a tree in their office. So what's not to like? You can't argue with someone who has a tree in their office because you are not going to win that argument. The phrase 'Yeah? Well, I have an indoor tree' trumps everything. It's even more powerful than Godwin's law.

I am not meddling tonight. Too late, too much drinking, visitors etc. But tomorrow I will meddle.

So if, tomorrow, the blog goes silent, you'll need no conspiracy theories. It'll be because I broke it.

  1. Good luck. I'll be watching closely. ;)

  2. Hmm. But this isn't the sort of site that generally mentions people in a positive way. Not quite as snarky as Julia's, mind.

So, could you doctor a version called "Send Loathing To"?

  3. I'd comment more often, but there's so little to add, and never anything I can disagree with.

    But I'm always listening.

  4. So these guys have been nagging you as well, eh?

  5. Incidentally, they have along term plan to make money from it. How remains a bit of a mystery at the moment.

  6. They've got a dog in their office too, which is another positive. Might explain why they have the tree though? However, from my quick glance at the site what I didn't see was how one goes about disengaging with these people. It's not worth getting into anything if you don't know how you will get out, but I'm sure I don't need to tell you that, LI.

  7. I think you will find the phrase 'Yeah? Well, I have an indoor tree' is actually a clause.

  8. Hope it can be trained to recognise nicknames; you don't often use anyone's real name. Just saying.

    Looks great, though.

frequently asked questions on the website will probably soon include those by celebrities and politicians inquiring into matters such as:

    who called me a cunt?

    where can i find him?

how much to have him moderated?

  10. I read it. I don't get it. Is this because I am thick? Probably. Shall I give a go? Dunno - I'll see how you get on first!

Is there one 'called send hate' to as well? That would definitely be a winner. Perhaps I'll write one...

  11. Can't wait to see what the gadget does, LI

  12. Hi Bunni, how are you? Ooops sorry LI if I've gone off thread.

  13. I can see how this might be of use to a couple of old favourites, Obnoxio and Grumpy Old Twat, who would have a fairly standard closing line to their comments.

  14. Have you installed it yet? I'll soon find out when I click the 'publish your comment' button.

  15. L-I, have just got back from the pub and your page..... ermmm.... isn't quite what I expected.

  16. Okay, I have meddled with the blog layout and might meddle some more tomorrow. It's a bit bright as it is.

Next, I'll try installing the gadget but as Gill said, it might not recognise some of the names.

It apparently installs as an item on the page so if I ever decide to get rid of it, I just delete the item.

Gill has a point here. It won't recognise Tiny Blur or Dai Cameroid.

This blog has moved to the new place, see link at the top of the main page. Comments are still allowed but moderation is on so I don't have to keep coming back to kill spambots and trolls.
