Magnetosmoky.

After a smashing afternoon (the tiles are gone, the kitchen looks like Bin Laden's practice ground and I am assured it can be screeded at the weekend for the usual currency [whisky, and the price of the floor levelling stuff]), I've been out with free fridge magnets this evening. They work just great.

They don't 'stick', they attach. No peeling off backing, no pressing, all I do is pass my hand over a surface and presto - a 'resistance' image appears. A stumble, reach out and grab a pillar, right myself and carry on. The Magnetosmoky in my palm is no longer there.

I wasn't around the town centre pubs. It's Friday and there are wandering bands of drunks, plus every smoking area is too full for a surreptitious label. I don't want it obvious. I want people to be curious about them, to wonder where they came from and discuss them. Then visit the website to find out what it's all about. If I just hand them out, I become another of those leaflet pests and the message will be ignored.

There are two large supermarkets here. Smokers work in them. They have, not so much 'designated areas' but 'tolerated areas' where staff can have a smoke in their breaks. So the smokers congregate in those areas but only when they have breaks. Most of the time they are deserted. Easy targets for Magnetosmoky. Steel pillars, adjacent recycling bins, a bin placed next to a seat, with an ashtray on top, anywhere the smokers gather.

I know that employees of supermarkets have discount cards. Usually ten percent off anything in store, after a certain period of working there. Anything, that is, except tobacco. They can get ten percent off whisky. They pay full price, just like everyone else, at the tobacco counter. Then they have to go and huddle next to the bins to smoke them, among the wasps and the flies which are, fortunately, repelled by tobacco smoke.

What, you didn't know? Surely everyone knows. Doesn't your memory extend back those few short years, to summer evenings plagued with midges? We smokers were everyone's friend back then. Nicotine is an insecticide.

Don't get excited, Righteous. Caffeine is an insecticide too, which is why coffee grounds go in the compost as well. Chocolate kills dogs and many other animals and birds, but not humans. One man's pipe is another insect's poison. Life is nowhere near as simple as the average Righteous mind.

Anyway, those supermarket employees are not just in the same boat as everyone else when it comes to UK tobacco prices. They, arguably, are in a worse position because despite working for the place that sells the stuff, despite getting a staff discount on anything else including bleach, rat poison and weedkiller, they pay full price for one stock item. Smokes. The one thing they are relegated to the bin area to use. I hope they are more than averagely furious.

One thing I won't do with Magnetosmoky patches is stick them on vehicles. They might fly off at speed and damage something and smokers have quite enough adverse publicity to deal with as it is. If the Daily Bloodpressure could get a photoshopped image of one sticking out of a child's eye, they'd use it. If they could get a real image of one sticking out of the Dreadful Arnott's eye, I'd get a T-shirt made.

Midweek, I'll pass by some of the pubs that don't let me smoke in them any more and stumble against their humiliating and degrading outside ashtrays. That magnetic photo paper is expensive so I'll see how far I can reduce the image size and still keep it legible.

You know, it's not the tax I object to here. I don't mind paying extra tax for something that is not essential. It seems to me that taxes should be on luxuries only and let's face it, smoking is a luxury. I don't need to smoke. I do it because I like it. I won't die if I didn't smoke (well, eventually I would anyway) just as drivers wouldn't die if there was no more petrol and compulsive knitters wouldn't die if there was no more wool. That last one is interesting from the vegan point of view. If nobody eats meat, do they really imagine farmers would make enough from wool sales only to keep sheep? That's for another time...

So, we should tax luxuries like widescreen televisions and leather sofas and so on, but there should be no tax on food or clothes or books or basic internet or cookers or fridges... I know, there are grey areas as to what constitutes 'essential' in these things but everyone needs food and the means to store and cook it. Nobody needs a gold-plated Aga. The details can be worked out in the hundred years or so it will take me to get into any position of power.

Tobacco is not essential so under my own rules, it should be taxed. I have no problem with that. My problem arises where the tax I have paid in the past (which is far, far more than I have ever - or could ever - cost the NHS) is used to treat me as filth. Where that tax is used to encourage the feeble-minded and the inconsequential to act as if their lives are more important than other people's lives. Where that tax is used to put smokers in a position where they can be beaten up or killed simply for smoking, and nobody minds. Where that tax can be used to pay people in the NHS who then refuse to treat people who have paid the extra tax. Where that tax pays for barring me from the pub. Where that tax pays for 'research' into third hand smoke, the conclusions of which are predetermined and which will be used to slap me around further. And much, much more.

The premise is not hard to grasp. You antismokers wanted war and now you have it. Your opponents are no longer going to take the hits and not fight back. Your schoolyard bully antics are clear to more and more each day. You take money from us and then beat us up. Just like the school thugs have done down the ages. Well, your victims are going to learn a new way to fight back. You'll see. We'll show you. A simple way, an easy way to destroy the thuggery and vindictiveness smokers have experienced in recent years. Yes, recent. Those with memories superior to goldfish will recall how it was before 2007 (2006 in Scotland). There are more of us than the Righteous think. Many more. The rest just need a reminder of their school days and how the bullying worked back then. We won't pay you to beat us up any more.

You won't get any more of my dinner money, bullies.

Truth be told, you never did.

And now, it's printer time. I need more fridge magnets.

Rouse the Army of the Damned.

This resistance is not about sitting around and chanting 'Ohm'.
It's time to act like the monsters we are made out to be.

I have changed the sidebar image. That young whippersnapper Clegg decided he wasn't at all interested in what anyone had to say. Not just smokers. Not one single detail of government will change as a result of his ridiculous pretend consultation. Nothing. So there is no further purpose in engaging with government in any way. They asked for opinions, received many, ignored them all. The time for discussion has passed. Long passed, if only we had realised. This new government is the Gorgon in a smiley mask. No wonder he gave in so easily. He realised that his oppression would continue under Wavy Davey's Red Tories and Simpering Nick's Laughable Dhimmicrats.

They don't want smokers anywhere but they want the taxes, they want to treat us as filth, they want to encourage the antismokers to bully us, they don't want us in their hospitals, on trains or planes or buses, in pubs, in clubs, in restaurants, cafeterias, and they'd very much like to evict us from our own homes. Their drone antismokers are happy with all that and whine 'Godwin's law' when they are pointed out as Nazis.

I buy my tobacco from Man with a Van. So I don't go abroad, he does. Sure, he makes a profit so I'm not paying 'abroad' prices, I'm paying a little more but I don't mind that at all. When Man with a Van makes a profit, he does not use it to abuse those who are paying him. That's a good business model and one which the Cleggeron Coagulation, allegedly part Tory, could learn from. Unfortunately they are not listening. To anyone.

If you fancy a little stocking up trip, there's someone running occasional sightseeing trips to places where you can marvel at the sight of smokers indoors, and be amazed at the nonsmokers who are not sitting quaking in their own faeces, are not running screaming like a little girl who's just been shown what Dirty Vince keeps under his mac, and most of all, who are surprisingly not dead. Abroad has far stronger nonsmokers than we have here. Except in America where they have easily-terrified targets for us too (thanks are due to Dick Puddlecote for the tip).

If they believe that being near us will kill them, I say play to it. Tell them it's true, that the merest touch will kill them within days, that even conversation will produce a cancer within three weeks. Scare them to death because they are too stupid to live. Think of yourself as an agent of natural selection and keep a straight face while you describe the aches, cramps and tightness of the chest they can expect to experience shortly. No sores or bruising, keep it to stuff they can easily produce psychosomatically. It does work. Ask a witchdoctor.

The blog world is not enough, not at all. The non-internet smokers need to get angry too. They need to hear that there is a way to take revenge on our elected tormentors. Stop paying them taxes. Well, you know, a lot of the estate smokers haven't paid taxes on their tobacco for years. Their technique is not so subtle: Customs aren't too keen to tackle a band of rowdy chavs who have staggered off the Easyjet from Alicante with a straw donkey stuffed with tobacco. Others, though, have simply accepted that they are dirt and deserve to be treated as such. Their downcast eyes must be raised.

So a conversation starter would be a good thing. Some image they can puzzle at and wonder about. The one at the top of this post, for instance.

Stickers of that image are available at £2.50 for 100. The producers of the stickers are not interested in making a profit. If you have a printer, you can print your own. It's a monochrome image so it shouldn't touch your colour ink as long as you set up to print monochrome. Or use a monochrome printer.

I have just printed nine copies of this image onto Kodak A4 magnetic photo paper using a ten-year-old HP Laserjet 1100. They came out perfect. Yes! Fridge magnets! Hopefully they'll stick to those silly outdoor metal ashtrays too. Maybe lamp posts and street sign posts. Bus stop frames and smoking shelters.

Yes, they will get pinched because they're only attached by magnetism, but that's the point. I can replace them. Smokers will want one each and I want them to have them. I want them to take them home and stick them on their fridges and see them every day until the message sinks in. I'll just keep replacing them. They should also stick to most parts of the inside of a bus or train too - and again, they'll be lifted and taken home by someone. I will replace them.

You know, you can also buy T-shirt transfer paper for inkjets. You need to be able to reverse the image before printing but having done that, you just iron it on. Supermarket plain white T-shirts are dirt cheap too. The only tough part is that the image doesn't scale up to A4 particularly well. Anyone know how to make it grow?

Then there's the ironing, at which I can claim no more than very basic skill but I'll give it a go.

Blogs won't change the world because most of the people we need to reach never read blogs. This one gets between 600-700 visits a day which impresses me, but that's only about one hundred thousandth of the population of the UK and those visits are not all from the UK. From here, I don't even reach a hundred thousandth of the people of this country. I know most of the Smoky-Drinkers never visit because many of them aren't interested in the internet and one doesn't even have a land line. From here I'm not even reaching the people in this town!

Every time I go anywhere I'll take some of these. They will appear wherever there is a steel surface. Sometimes I might just leave a few lying around. Airport departure lounges would be a good place to drop such a reminder.

If you have no printer, $2.50 for 100 stickers is a good deal. If you have a printer, sheets of precut stickers are available as are magnetic photo paper and iron-on transfer paper.

Note that there is nothing illegal in advising people to buy tobacco abroad, nor in buying that tobacco abroad. The only way to make it illegal would be to take us out of the EU. Ha ha ha.

Buy them or print them, it's up to you, but get them out there. Even if you don't smoke, this is your chance to take some small revenge on the Cleggeron's fake consultation, to react to the Great Repeal Hoax that has changed nothing at all. I mean, we all know that a year from now, the Cleggeron Coagulation will point to that consultation as evidence that they are 'listening'. They are not. They never will. They had their chance and we should offer no more chances. There is no further purpose in discussion and no more room for compromise.

Stop paying them to hate you. Resist.

Ceramics and blogs.

Typing could be more error-ridden than usual because one finger is currently out of action due to injury.

I have a ceramic tiled floor in the kitchen and I'm sick of it. Drop a teaspoon and one of those wretched things will crack. So I thought I'd rip it up and try something different. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Those tiles are a paradox. One tap with a teaspoon and they shatter, yet whack them with a two-pound hammer and it leaves barely a dent. Hammer, brick bolster and two forms of crowbar (I have a set that most burglars would envy) and still they are not all up. The kitchen is littered with ultrasharp ceramic shards everywhere - and I mean everywhere. The tiles don't pop up in one piece, the way they like to do when you want them to stay put. Oh, no, now I want them to come loose they cling to the floor like limpets and only come away in little flying bits.

They are so sharp you don't even notice you're cut until you see the blood. So now I have a leaky finger and a few other leaks too. I have used a fair few plasters, I look like a nicotine patch addict and one finger can't bend because the shard went right into the joint, so the plaster stops movement for now (I did get the shard out before covering the hole). Before I finish the job tomorrow (too late for hammering and swearing now) I'll get my gardening gloves from the shed. I know, I should have thought of that earlier. I did have enough sense to find my safety glasses, so there are shard-free patches around both eyes. Tip: If you ever do this, no matter how hot it is, short sleeves are not a good idea. I recommend a welder's mask and body armour.

The floor under the tiles resembles a close-up image of coarse emery paper and I am not scraping that off. I'll phone someone who knows about such things tomorrow and get it levelled with cement. Perhaps it would have been better to just pour cement over the tiles...

And now for something completely different.

Over at Obo's I learned something new. Labour's ability to leak information has become so astoundingly skilful that they can now leak blog posts in advance. That is truly amazing, or would be if they were really 'blogging'. What they are really doing is using the illusion of a spontaneous blog to disseminate the outcomes of committee decisions. Nobody over there is simply sitting down and writing the first thing that comes into their head. Nobody is producing their immediate reaction to some piece of news. It's committee-speak masquerading as individual thought. I doubt they can even tolerate the concept of individual thought.

In the interests of fairness, I should point out that the Cleggeron Coagulation don't like individual thought either. Unless it's thoughts they approve of, and have provided.

In the comments to Obo's post, an enraged anonymous Righteous attempts to silence him by insisting that blogging makes no difference and it's all a waste of time. It is a standard Righteous technique - belittle the opposition, make them feel unhappy and guilty, make them feel small and irrelevant. These days they call it 'denormalisation'. One such anonymous Righteous has been tracked after using this technique to extremes and might even end up being sued. Another has made it his mission to make Pat Nurse's life difficult. He also attempts to make smokers feel guilty for not going to pubs. Note the wording - 'shame on you smokers for deserting the pubs' - which conveniently turns the truth on its head. We didn't desert the pubs. We were thrown out.

Back to Obo's current back-monkey. If he wants to trade insults with Obo, that's up to him but when it comes to insults, Obo gets them wholesale. The back-monkey is right, though. Blogging is not going to change the world, and since we don't get paid for it, it's a waste of time. Then again, this is my time I'm wasting writing this stuff and I will do with my unpaid time anything I choose to do. Some nights I waste my time imbibing doctor-frightening amounts of alcohol. Not tonight because there's a big job coming up and I have to get the lab ready. When I have time to waste, I waste it.

To me, it's not wasted time. I write here for the same reason I smoke, the same reason I drink, the same reason I do the job that I do. Because I like it. Obo's pet back-monkey is using the same approach as the antismokers - "Well I don't like it, therefore you have to stop even though it's not affecting me at all". They don't have many techniques, these Righteous.

One day I might decide I don't like it any more. If that day comes, I'll stop. Corrugated Soundbite has had enough for now and has brought in a worthy substitute, Captain Ranty almost quit, and Mummylonglegs is finding it less appealing than before. All I'd say is the same as I'd say to a smoker who doesn't want to smoke any more, or to anyone who is finding their hobby has become a chore. If you're not enjoying it, don't do it. Maybe after a break you'll find you miss it and take it up again. Maybe you'll occupy your time with something else.

We're not supposed to be static creatures. We're not supposed to be clones. We are not doomed to do one thing in our lives and do that one thing over and over again. Tastes change, habits change, people change. Sometimes dramatically.

These Righteous blog back-monkeys don't see that. They imagine that if they can shout down a blogger, then the blogger is destroyed. They imagine that blogger spending the rest of their days sitting in front of a blank computer screen, hopeless and forlorn. Instead, the blogger might re-emerge with another blog, another identity and start again. They might decide to give up blogging altogether and take a tour of the world. They might do anything, might be doing anything when they're not blogging. The back-monkeys cannot see beyond the blog.

One thing that is totally lacking in Righteous is imagination. They have none and therefore are incapable of understanding what it is, or of recognising it in others. Their lives are single-issue and they don't change. They cannot change. That's why they fail to see the 'point' of blogs. To them, everything must have a 'point'. Everything must have a defined reason. Everything must have a budget.

It is impossible for them to understand that someone might spend a while typing out a load of drivel like this for no other reason than it's fun. Even if nobody reads it, I've organised my thoughts a little by writing them down, I've let off some of the fury and I've enjoyed myself by wasting my time - and by now, yours too.

Nobody pays me to blog. Nobody dictates the content. Nobody instructs me in what to write or when to write. One post might be deadly serious, the next might be a comic video, the next might be a story, purely for entertainment. Anything goes. No agenda, no plan, and to be honest, until I start typing, there's often no idea. Sometimes there's still no idea when I stop but it doesn't matter. The act of stringing words together is fun.

It's not so much that the Righteous hate this, it's more that they cannot understand it. It terrifies them, the thought that maybe someone is doing something without consulting with authority, without asking permission, without following a standard operating procedure.

I write this stuff because I like to write and even more than that, because the Righteous don't like it.

Also, blogging is considerably less painful than taking up ceramic tiles. That is one activity I will not be adding to my list of timewasting hobbies.

Tomorrow I'll wear my hat and headbutt those tiles out.

Working late.

Costing new work takes a lot of time, especially when it involves a new pathogen. I've learned from past mistakes though.

One - never give a quote without looking up prices first. If pressed, quote wildly high. Companies are happy if you later reduce the quote but very unhappy if you try to increase it. (If they accept the wildly high quote, keep quiet).

Two - remember that every bit of income will be taxed. If you can do the job for £100 and you're paid £100, tax and NI will take a chunk out of it and you'll end up paying to work. Never work at cost price and it's never worth working at a loss to get new business. They'll expect those prices all the time.

Three - it's not just the materials and the testing. There's the setting up, the analysis, the reporting and the disposal. All costs money and time. This particular job will send me 60 samples per set and they all have to be done the day they arrive. That's late working and involves pain money.

Four - there is always, always, always... something you've forgotten. Don't release a quote until you remember what it is because it's usually something expensive.

So I am up later than Dracula again but this time with little to say. I've made forays to other people's blogs tonight but haven't got a good story for the evening.

Tonight then, I have a question instead.

How many of the 1966 England World Cup team were smokers?

Does anyone know?

The Imagination Virus.

Once I wrote a story called 'Telephone Pest' in which a silent phone call will enslave and eventually kill people. It was fiction. About six months later, a rumour spread around an African country to the effect that if you received a silent phone call on your mobile, you would die within 24 hours. I wondered then if someone might have read that story (it was published on the Internet) and thought it funny to scare their friends with the idea. I don't know if there was a connection and I doubt I ever will.

If you picked up a copy of this (download is free) then you'll have read that story, and one called The Imagination Virus. It's fiction too, of course. It couldn't possibly happen. A virus that changes how you see the world? Ridiculous.

Trooper Thompson finds that maybe it's not so ridiculous at all. There is an inoculation against stress under development, virus-based, that will dispel your rage and make you calm and focused.

In other words, it will turn you into an Eloi. No matter what is done to you, you won't get angry or upset about it. Sound good? Really?

When they take your children, you won't mind. When they tell you what you can eat and drink, you won't mind. When they order you to the organ donation slaughterhouse, you won't mind. Even when you find out that Soylent Green is made of people, you won't mind. You can't worry about it. You've been immunised against worry.

I'm sure those who devised this idea and developed it thought they were doing something good. They did it to help the traumatised and the desperate, I'm sure. They did it without considering what the corrupt and evil in government could do with it.

I'm pretty sure that Albert Einstein didn't have nuclear bombs in mind when he first formulated his equations, and nor did Marie Curie when she figured out how radioactivity worked. I don't think Edward Jenner had biological weapons in mind when he worked out to vaccinate people. No, I don't think the scientists in this case have evil intent at all.

The politicians who will control this, however, have nothing but evil intent.

If this new vaccine against rage works, it will be virus borne. It does not necessarily have to be injected.

Futuristic and impossible, I hear you say. Just like face transplants and tiny recorders capable of holding a thousand songs and playing them in high-quality stereo. As impossible as landing a robotic device on Mars and controlling it from Earth. As ridiculous as the idea that you could surf the Internet from a little phone. An insane imagining, like the lunatic proposal that an aeroplane could be made invisible to radar or that a satellite could photograph your house and garden and even the top of your head. The very idea of babies grown in the lab then implanted in women and brought to term is just the babblings of an overactive imagination. Isn't it?

Can't happen, huh? I have, in my little lab, a cure for Clostridium difficile and I am one independent scientist working alone, with no access to the massively sophisticated equipment available to big labs. I've seen that stuff and it would make your eyes pop out. Cloning and DNA manipulation is now a piece of piss with such equipment. It can do thousands of manipulations a day, automatically, and test them all. Someone I know who works with such things complained recently that modern hard drives are not big enough to cope with the rate of data generation from these machines. Just let that sink in for a moment.

Science can clone entire animals and create a virus from bottles of chemicals. Seriously. The first bacteria created from scratch are now being developed. Meddling with things we don't fully understand, unleashing forces we cannot control and tampering with the very fabric of life is what we do. It's in the job description. Some of us are careful about it, others are not.

So could a virus be developed that is designed to latch on to brain tissue and deliver a DNA payload that will integrate into the brain cells and affect their operation?

That part is a doddle.

What it does once it's in there, well now that's where we get to the 'tampering' part...

I'm glad I never drink unboiled water.

Although I wonder if I should maybe stop publishing stories. They seem to be giving some people ideas.

Truce.

I'm still miffed at the Electronic Cigarette Company for siding with ASH against smokers. However, now the Electrofag is in the Righteous sights too, it's time to put aside such differences because we can't afford the luxury of fighting amongst ourselves. Anti-smoking drinkers take note - if you want to hate smokers, that's up to you, but you're going to lose those pubs anyway. You'll lose them faster if you continue to hate smokers.

Anna Racoon has dug into the threatened Electrofag ban and found that is it not a ban but a power grab. The MHRA wants to control the devices and cream off profits by charging for licencing. This will be expensive enough to put the smaller companies out of business, so while it might not turn out to be a ban, it will certainly increase prices and reduce choice. On the plus side, it will then be hard for pubs to justify refusing to allow their customers to use a 'medical device' and we can demand them on the NHS too. Well, I pay the NHS for nothing much so far, they might as well supply me with smokes for the money I give them. It does suggest a possibly interesting future scenario -

Doctor - 'Do you smoke?'

Patient - 'No.'

Doctor - 'Well, try one of these.'

Moribund Senior claims he is going to save the British pub without even mentioning the smoking ban. Mr. Eugenides has already articulated my thoughts on hearing this. There are many comments on Moribund's site for now, until he does what all politicians do and 'listen' only to those he agrees with while silencing those he does not agree with.

One comment on that page is particularly interesting. Pat Nurse spotted it and recorded it, so it can't now vanish into the memory hole. Is this in any way connected to the crackdowns on smoking, drinking etc. we are seeing? More appeasement perhaps? Well, two million might be appeased but a somewhat larger number are far from appeased. Very far from appeased. In fact, as far from appeased as it's possible to get even if there was a real place called 'appeased' and it was on a different planet. It seems to be the mission of Government to enrage the maximum number of people. Perhaps that's the reasoning behind the Cameroid's current Infuriation Tour of the world.

It's not just Moribund and his band of fully accredited liars at fault here. The Cleggeron Coagulation lied about listening to people when they shut down any dissent on the smoking ban and stated that it would not be relaxed in the slightest. They are all exactly the same. None of them have any interest in any of us beyond polling day. We are just here to work, earn money and hand it over to the man with the whip. If we die while doing that, they'll just import some more to replace us.

Therefore it is time to forget small disagreements. Electrofag is likely to come under Righteous control, although how they plan to control the sale of battery-driven little heaters and a bit of padding is not yet clear. Sure, they can try to overtax the juice but if smugglers can sneak in half the population of Somalia without the border agency noticing, a small bottle of juice won't get their attention. Anyway, there's going to be a bit of a mess soon, so I have decided to stock up both for Titan and Njoy and the Titan makers have a sale on.

So if you have been considering trying Electrofag but think it's too much money to risk, you can get a trial pack for £12.50 until the end of August. One battery, one heater, a few cartridges and a USB charger. Just enough parts to see if you're going to like it. With £2.99 postage, that's still cheaper than three packs of 20 smokes or about 75 g of rolling tobacco, I think? Assuming you're not a Man with a Van customer.

In fact, everything is currently half price on that site. You can get a full Titan starter kit for £20. If you know a smoker who keeps trying to quit, get them one for Christmas. Don't buy one for a smoker who doesn't want to stop because you'll only annoy them, and those batteries are the right size and shape for Certain Orifice Insertion. Smokers are in a permanent state of barely-suppressed rage already. Annoying a smoker is unwise.

Yes, I am still miffed about TECC doing a CAMRA (who are, incidentally, at it again) but I don't think it's good to sustain any form of internal argument while the control freakery is in full flow. We can't afford infighting between smokers, vapers, drinkers, photographers, fat people and ...well, every one if us is in the firing line for something. Even those pensioners on the end of the sex-chat lines. As long as we are all hating each other as directed, the money-laundering fakecharities and quangoes will continue to take money from us. All of us. They take your taxes and tell you they will use it to control me. They take mine and tell me they will use it to control you. The result is that we are all under control and they get all the money. Clever, eh?

I'm going to have to work on those pamphlets I mentioned in an earlier post. It won't be easy to condense it all into one A4 sheet but I think it has to be done. Sure, a fat antismoker somewhere will sneer at the idea of not beating up smokers for a while, and a tea-total smoker somewhere else won't have anything to do with drinkers, but I think most people can be shown that their hate is based on lies and propaganda.

It just has to be in straightforward, basic language. In as few words as possible (maybe I'm not the best person for this job) and it has to be memorable. This could take a while. I think I'll call it 'Truce' because that is what all the marginalised groups need to do now.

In the meantime, those who might be havering about trying the Electrofag will soon find it will become more difficult to source and more expensive. Try one of those Titan cheap deals. It's not smoking, it's different, but it's an interesting experience.

For those who don't want all the gadgetry, try the Njoy. More expensive at the moment (normally about the same price when there's no sale on) but still cheaper than the equivalent in cigarettes. That will survive because it's backed by a large American company who are already engaged in battling the Righteous in the US.

So, when it kicks off here, the Njoy company has experience in fighting these people.

That will come in handy.

Voluntary euthanasia.

What could possibly go wrong?

Independence for Manchester.

I live in Scotland but I'm not Scottish, so Scottish independence isn't a big issue for me personally. If it happened and it turned out that I didn't like it, I'd simply move. Being self-employed and running a business that doesn't interact with the general public is handy that way. It doesn't matter too much where I'm based as long as there's reasonably priced lab space available. Customers don't need to be anywhere near me.

Independence for Manchester is something I'd support. I'd even vote for it to be cut away and towed out to sea. Give the sensible people time to get out of the city first and then tow all its infrastructure, all its civil servants and quangoes out into the Atlantic and sink it.

Old Holborn has a list of people who would definitely not be allowed to leave before that happened. If they float after the city sinks, machine-gun them in the water. We can't take the chance of their malicious infection drifting back to shore.

Quiet Man has covered the story already. Manchester thinks it is an independent state, not subject to either UK or EU laws and fully under the domination of unelected dictators who will make up any law they choose, any time they choose. They will use a particular sort of police who are described as 'a bit special' to enforce those laws. I assume it's the politically correct version of 'special', certainly in that case. Manchester really should consider getting some proper ones.

As they consider themselves above even EU law, Manchester plan to impose a minimum pricing limit for alcohol whether they are allowed to or not and whether the people of Manchester want it or not. I think their local Man is going to need a bigger Van. At least he won't have to drive it so far to undercut the local shops.

I don't think this new control is possible, even for the Righteous. Oh, they can threaten to fire hospital staff for smoking when not on duty and to leave smokers to die in the gutter in case they spoil the carefully-nurtured stench of disinfectant, blood and faeces in their hospitals but this time they are up against the Megarighteous. The EU. We didn't elect them either but they see ordering the proles around as their sole prerogative. They don't like to have their territory invaded.

Minimum pricing is never going to work anyway. Even a dolt can see where it's heading. It's that one non-smoking carriage on the train, that non-smoking area in the pub, that no-smoking-at-the-front rule on buses. It will not stop at 50p per unit. It is one small step for a Righteous, one giant leap backwards for civilisation. There will be a second step, a third, a fourth, each one small but they will never stop.

We know the technique now and the moment it starts, we'll all start brewing our own and buying imports. Man with a Van will become Three Men and an Articulated Lorry. The only growth industry left.

Applying minimum pricing only to Manchester is an idea so derisory that it must be a Socialist one. The people of Manchester will order their groceries and booze from Tesco Direct and have it delivered from outside Manchester. It doesn't need to be shipped from outside Manchester, only the point of payment needs to be in the real world. They'll organise coach trips that don't need to go anywhere near as far as Calais. They'll take a day trip on the train. Who will be harmed by this?

All those small shops who rely on cigarettes and booze and late-night hours to keep their profit margins on the smiley-face side of the sheet. There will not be one such shop within the Puritan Zone but there'll be five in every street just outside it.

All you antismokers who delight in the new pong-free pubs, make the best of it. You won't have them for long. These attempts at alcohol control are just the beginning. We've seen it happen, we smokers. These are the equivalent of those first 'no smoking' signs with fines attached. Only in a few places at first but everywhere now.

Alcohol won't be made illegal. We'll always be able to buy it, just like tobacco. The controls will just get tighter and tighter until although it's legal to buy, we'll be fined if we try to make use of our purchases. That's the clever part of the New Puritanism. They let you buy the stuff, let you pay punitive tax and duty on it, then they fine you if they catch you with it. Much more profitable than their previous scams.

Manchester is somewhere to avoid. If you run any kind of retail business there, sell up fast. If people are shopping out of town for booze then while they're there, they'll do the rest of their shopping too. No matter what you sell, if you sell it in Manchester, the council is determined to put you out of business. Not at the behest of their electorate but on the command of unelected Righteous who you pay for through your taxes but who are not accountable to you or anyone else. That's right. Dictators.

If I lived in Manchester I'd be selling up and getting out of there now. I doubt they'll get this measure through but it will not be a one-off. Having seen into the minds of those who run the city, the only sensible option is to scarper.

Sensible people, get out of there.

Before the big saws appear at the edge of town.

Oh, one more thing. Don't move to London. They have something even worse in mind.

As Fewston said in the comments on the previous post - 'next they came for the drinkers...'

Word war with witterers.

Browsing through the smoky blogs (I'm going to have to set up a dedicated 'smoker's bloglist' although it won't be easy. Most cover other subjects too), I came across a link to the BMJ 'exterminate-the-smoker' blog.

There are a couple of interesting comments but they are pulverised by auto-spammers there. Word verification would sort that out in a flash, but I'm not going to tell them. There is no point talking to them at all, they make the Daleks look like paragons of reason.

They consider, openly, how best to propagandise their specific discriminatory hate-fest and how to further encourage people like the fine example of kindness and tolerance described here, who they evidently consider footsoldiers to be proud of.

If you can wade through their jargon-rich gibberish, you will be left with such a sensation of smug superiority you'll have to go and wash your hands before touching the keyboard again. They really regard smokers as subhuman, and it shows.

Apparently, all they need are the 'right words' and the sheep will declare smokers an inferior form of human that must be eugenically cleansed in order to preserve the purity of the race. Yes, that is where they are coming from on this issue and that is precisely what their drones are implementing.

Health? It has nothing at all to do with health. This is cleansing the race of impure forms of humanity by any means possible. This is Nazism and you can bleat on about Godwin's Law all you like. It is the exact process used by Hitler to remove those he didn't like from his Aryan dream. Denormalise the target, blame the target for all the ills of the world, remove all humanity from the target and then set the rabid and the deranged loose on them.

What's that? I'm being paranoid? Nobody is going to be going around killing smokers? Well, look again at that fine example of antismoker tolerance and kindness and read the rest of it. Smokers are being killed, now, and outpourings of hate and calls for more violence are not interesting to the police as long as it's only smokers who are the target.

If you say you are 'antisemitic' you can expect to be shunned, villified and possibly arrested. If you were to call for violence against any ethnic group you would certainly be investigated and would be likely to be in court in short order.

If you say you are an 'antismoker' you are praised. You can call for violence against smokers, you can abuse them in public, and nobody minds at all. The BMJ are asking for new forms of smoker abuse so if you have any ideas, let them know. They will shortly, no doubt, have them on billboards for general use.

They want a war of words but they don't understand what words can do. The words they spout serve to fire up the deranged they have recruited and those deranged footsoldiers take the words literally. They see those words as permission to be violent against someone. Permission to kill.

Maybe I'm wrong about the BMJ. Maybe they do realise what they are doing, and are doing it deliberately. I certainly wouldn't be surprised. They keep their hands clean and they get their population-cleansing done just the same.

Either way, whether the authorities are doing this deliberately or not, the end result is the same. Population reduction by turning three-quarters of the people against the other quarter. Then they'll cleanse out the drinkers and the overweight and the too short and the too tall and anyone else who doesn't fit their standard. The Aryan race is still on the agenda and I'm certainly not going to be included.

The NHS in Grampian are not content with denying patients any smoking areas at all. Before you antismokers get on your 'We don't like the smell' whine wagon, the hospital here is huge. One end of it could be engulfed in flames and if you were at the other end, you wouldn't notice. There is plenty of scope for an entire smoking ward, never mind a room. So bleat somewhere else.

No, their proud boast to be a smoke-free hospital (pity it's not hospital-acquired infection free, eh?) is not enough for them. They plan disciplinary action for any staff caught in possession of tobacco and they plan to withdraw treatment from smoking patients. Oh, sure, I'll hear 'Well you cost the NHS money' once again. No I don't. I pay the NHS money. I don't cost them a bean. Especially since they plan to refuse to treat me because I smoke, even if I had malaria or ringworm and not even the most indoctrinated antismoker could blame those on smoking.

The NHS will only provide patches and gum which won't work. If they were serious about getting people off tobacco, they'd provide free starter kits of Electrofag. Some won't take to them but there'd be a hell of a lot more uptake than patches and gum. The smoke-free hospital is, as pointed out here, a massively missed opportunity. If Electrofag was allowed in there we'd all use it. A lot of smokers would continue to use it afterwards. Yet the medical profession derides Electrofag and seeks to ban it.

Patches and gum. That's their fixation. They are useless. You can't get the damn things to stay alight.

Smokers pay far more in duty than they will ever cost the NHS. It is not in the medical profession's interests to really wean us off tobacco. Heard them call for an outright ban on tobacco lately? Nope. No ban. Just more controls, more denormalisation, more violence and more hate-speak. They don't want us to quit. They are making too much money from us and having too much fun shitting on us.

The patch-and-gum pirates depend on the existence of smokers for their income. They will only sell those things if smokers are made to feel less than human and think they need to be 'cured'. That's where the medics, government and ASH come in. They need tax money and smokers provide a hell of a lot of it. So they push the patch-and-gum nonsense knowing it won't work and won't spoil their tax income. The smokers will 'fail', they'll go back to smoking and the cycle begins again.

The pharmers realised a long time ago that there is no money in cures. If you cure someone, they stop paying for the medicine. The money is in treatment. Long-term treatment that does not result in a cure. A customer for life. That line of reasoning goes way beyond smoking.

This is why Electrofag is to be banned and tobacco is not. Electrofag risks breaking the cycle. If tobacco was as deadly as claimed, why is it not banned outright? Why all the window-dressing of fake photos, scary warnings and outright lies? Why not just ban it?

If Electrofag is a more successful means of leaving smoking, why are the medics not pushing for it to be promoted and subsidised? Why have they not thrown their patches and gum aside and taken on this new and more successful alternative?

If you still think it's about health, or even about 'the smell', you are deluded.

It's social control and money. Nothing more. Antismoking is big business now and most of those who do the groundwork are working for free.

The antismokers will fall for the words that the BMJ will spout. It gives them the excuse they crave to be intolerant, spiteful and violent. It makes them feel superior because they have subhumans that they are allowed to sneer at and kick around. They don't realise that they are more controlled than the smokers. That they yap to order whenever one of the Righteous yanks their chain. That the lies they have absorbed will be turned against them when it's their turn for cleansing.

The BMJ want words and slogans to use in the Smoke War.

Let's see if we can't think of some words and slogans ourselves. Denormalise the denormalisers. Use their own techniques against them. They want to blame us for imagined deaths? Let's look at their own record in causing real deaths. They want to say we 'cost money'? Let's look at what they cost.

I have in mind a pamphlet that can be printed cheaply and left all over the place. Like the ones F2C produce but less intense, aimed at the short attention span of the average person these days. Tabloid style (but not Daily Mail style!) We're not likely to get into the newspapers with our side of the story. We'll just have to print our own.

Oy vey, Insh'allah.

I can hardly type for laughing although in the end, it's not funny at all. It's more the maniacal laughter of the damned than the chuckles of the amused.

The Cameroid has enraged the Islamists of Pakistan by suggesting it might be awfully sporting of them if they would stop training people to blow up other people. They have responded, as usual, by demonstrating their non-violent nature with uncontrolled rage and burning the Cameroid in effigy. They missed their chance to burn the real one. Then Moribund Senior, who did so wonderfully well in the region, pops up to say he did it wrong. Tories are no use at this, it takes a real Labour banana-waving grinning ghoul to properly annoy these people.

The Cameroid now has two options. Prove his statement was correct and say 'nyah' or, if he can't support it, he'll have to grovel and apologise like a Labour lickspittle. Apologise, Cameroid, and your ratings here will plummet. Yet if you can't prove your statement, what other choice do you have? You'd better come up with something more convincing than 'weapons of mass destruction' this time. The Blur used that one and it's not working out too well for him now. Oh, and 'The Ninja Chappatis and the Pilau Pirates' isn't going to work. This time it will have to be real evidence. I know that goes against the tradition of the last thirteen years but we're not all as stupid as politics would like.

Cameroid's single comment caused the head of Pakistani intelligence to take his ball and go home. He has refused to discuss security for the Pakistani PM's visit with British security forces because his delicate feathers are ruffled. So what's more important, a perceived slight or the safety of the head of State?

Silly question. A perceived slight trumps everything these days.

So Cameroid has annoyed the Islamists. It couldn't get worse, could it?

Well, yes, it could.

Some guy called Shimon Peres says that the English are all anti-Semitic. He seems to have forgotten how the state of Israel came about.

Shimon Peres said England was "deeply pro-Arab ... and anti-Israeli", adding: "They always worked against us."

Oh, good luck with that 'Middle East Peace Diva' job, Tiny Blur. Neither side likes you now. It's hardly surprising, really. Nobody likes you anywhere, at least not after you've spoken to them.

He added: "There is in England a saying that an anti-Semite is someone who hates the Jews more than is necessary."

Is there? I've never heard it, not in fifty years. Could it be that he's just made it up?

Oh, this is cracking stuff. The Muslims think the Cleggeron Coagulation is Israel's lap-dog while Israel think the Coagulation is all cuddly to the Muslims. Cameroid, get the hell out of the middle of this one now, if you can, and do it without taking sides.

You don't want to be on either side because Mr. Brown Stuff is about to hit Mr. Whirly Thing with quite some force and the best place to be when that happens is somewhere else. In the middle is definitely the worst option, believe me.

The Russians can see it coming.

Islam and Israel are squaring up and trying to force the Cameroid to take sides. The only sensible option is to go all Switzerland on them and leave them to it.

We don't have the capacity for yet another war, Cameroid. Leave this one to someone else. Don't let them play you the way battling children play their teachers. Let them sort out their differences themselves.

The Cameroid will be tempted to take Israel's side. Wrong. The Russians, with their rested armies and masses of equipment, will take the other side. Chechen rebels notwithstanding, Iran has a lot of oil and oil lubricates the wheels of co-operation very well indeed. Cameroid cannot take the Islamists' side while he has troops shooting at them in two countries. Devil and deep blue sea, Cameroid. Stay on the beach, get out the towel and a good book and sit this one out.

Cameroid, you have only one real option. Shut up and stay out of it. The Blur and the Gorgon caused enough problems with unpopular wars.

What's coming up is likely to be an unpopular war you'll lose, and lose quickly. Best option? Get our troops the hell out of the way, fast.

Oh, and you might consider buying them some decent equipment for a change. We might need them again if this escalates.

At least, some boots and rations, which would be better than the Gorgon ever offered.

Maybe a few bullets, too?
